Hey friends!! Now that I have been in South Africa for a couple weeks i thought I would share about what we’re doing here! Jeffreys Bay has most definitely captured my heart in my time here so far. The people are so loving and welcoming to my team and I. We truly have been blessed with the BEST ministry hosts and ministry to work with!

My team and I have been working with a ministry in J-Bay called LXP. There are so many amazing things that LXP is doing and everyone that works there is so eager to grow and pour into the kids that come every day. Being able to connect with their team and pour into each other has really been so amazing and made me feel so much closer to God. Each and every person on their team has such a heart for these kids.

So what exactly does LXP do? LXP has multiple different programs. The main one that I get to work with is called compassion ministries. We basically run an after school program and get to teach these kids reading and writing skills and do arts and crafts with them and then my personal favorite is our Bible lesson day! This past week on the day where we got to dive into the word was very eye opening for me. We were teaching on the promises of the Lord. More specifically, the promise of forgiveness.

I’ve been working with mainly 6th graders and the group that I got on this day had a very different view on the promise of forgiveness. I asked them how many sins they thought that God would forgive them all. Most of their answers were things like “a lot” or “1,000”. I then asked them if there were any sins that God didn’t forgive and they started listing off sins. It was an eye opening moment but also a very opportunity to make sure that these kids know that God loves them so much that no matter what they do they will always be forgiven. You could really see it click in their eyes and that was very heart warming to me. I then got the chance to pray over them and taught them “popcorn prayer”. It was so cool to get to pray over these kids and then hear them pray in their language after I had finished praying.

My favorite part of this ministry is just getting to love on these kids and show them that they are loved and just giving them empowerment. A lot of what LXP is doing is to help kids get an education and break the cycle of poverty in their families. I feel so honored to get to work with LXP giving them ideas and helping to grow and organize their ministry! God is so good and I can’t wait to continue to see him working in J-Bay.

Alright, that’s all for now y’all! Thanks for reading 🙂
