I was reflecting on some people that I’ve met around the world that have really left an impact on me and I remembered a story that I haven’t shared on here yet.

So we’re going back to Guatemala for this one!! In Guatemala my team lived in a small village in the mountains. We had the absolute privilege of meeting our neighbors one day as the Lord led us to talk to them. On Friday mornings we would do house visits around the village. We would spend some time praying to see if the Lord was highlighting anything specific. As we prayed outside the gate I watched a butterfly flutter over to their house. I felt like we should go there so Elijah, David and I walked over to this house.

As usual they immediately pulled out some stools to sit and talk. Guatemala has this beautiful culture of interruptibility so this is normal there! As we got to know our neighbor and her kids she began to tell us a story about the Lord’s provision in her life. She told us about how her son was in and out of the hospital because of a brain tumor a couple years ago. During this time it put a very large financial burden on them as well as an emotional burden. They were scared to lose their child but they had faith that the Lord would heal their son. As time went on they were losing hope but still clung to their faith in the Lord they prayed for a miracle. It was coming to the end of their financial capability to get him the treatments that he needed. They needed the Lord to intervene. As they went to their appointment to get their sons brain scanned the scans came back completely clear!! What a testimony to the things that our God can do!!

But the story doesn’t end there. Not long after that they were meant with another trial. The husband who was the main source of income for this family became very sick. He could not leave his bed for two years. Still this family continued to pray and pray for another touch of healing. This woman’s faith had grown so much from her son’s healing that she trusted the Lord would provide for their needs. So as she prayed for her husbands healing and for the Lord to take care of their needs as a family something big happened. For two years, everything she needed was provided. She told us how strangers would come to her door with food, or clothing for her children. for TWO YEARS. You guys the Lord truly cares for us.

At the time that we heard her share this story, her husband was finally getting back to work. This woman encouraged my faith so much.

We came to pour out but we left filled with encouragement.

This woman sat with us for an hour telling us how truly faithful the Lord is. She lives in a space of gratitude and contentment. Even as her husband is continuing to heal and figure out what exactly is causing his sickness she trusts in the God who heals. The God who loves and provides her is that same God who loves and provides for you and me!

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?
Matthew 6:28-30

I hope you leave as encouraged as I have been by this woman. Thank you for your continued prayers and support!!
